International Logistics Compliance
TerraVault Logistics (SL) Ltd operates every freight, storage and precious-asset movement under a single compliance framework built around the standards that international carriers, customs authorities, banks and buyers actually require before they will accept a shipment or a consignment of gold or diamonds. That means correctly classified and declared cargo, sanctions and denied-party screening on every counterparty, complete Incoterms-based trade documentation, and — for gold and diamonds specifically — verified sourcing, licensed export and full chain-of-custody paperwork from the moment an asset enters our custody to the moment it is handed over at destination.
This page sets out the frameworks we work to, so that clients, financial partners and regulators can see exactly how a TerraVault shipment or precious-asset export is controlled at every stage. It is a summary for reference — our team can provide full supporting documentation, licences and certificates for any specific consignment on request.
Our General Compliance Framework
Customs & Export Control
Accurate cargo classification, complete export declarations and coordinated customs clearance on every shipment, in line with Sierra Leonean and destination-country requirements.
Sanctions & AML/KYC Screening
Counterparties, buyers and consignees are screened against applicable sanctions lists, with know-your-customer and anti-money-laundering checks performed before any precious-asset transaction proceeds.
Incoterms & Trade Documentation
Freight contracts are structured around current Incoterms rules, with commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin and bills of lading / airway bills prepared to international standard.
Carriage & Insurance Conventions
Air, sea and land moves are handled with regard to the applicable international carriage conventions and dangerous-goods regulations, backed by insured transit for the full value of the cargo.
Gold Export Compliance
Every gold consignment TerraVault handles for export is processed under Sierra Leone’s mineral trading regulations and internationally recognised responsible-sourcing frameworks. Before any gold is accepted for export or storage, we confirm the seller’s legal right to the material, apply know-your-customer (KYC) and anti-money-laundering (AML) checks to the parties involved, and independently assay the consignment to verify weight and purity. Export only proceeds once the required government clearance and licensing has been obtained, and the full chain of custody is documented from receipt to final delivery.
OECD Due Diligence Guidance
Sourcing and handling procedures follow the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals from Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas.
LBMA Responsible Gold Guidance
Our verification and chain-of-custody procedures are informed by the London Bullion Market Association's Responsible Gold Guidance, the benchmark international buyers and refiners expect.
NMA & Ministry of Mines Licensing
Export clearance is coordinated with Sierra Leone's National Minerals Agency and Ministry of Mines and Mineral Resources on every consignment before it leaves our custody.
AML / KYC & Precious Minerals Trading Act
All parties to a gold transaction are verified under our AML/KYC procedures, consistent with Sierra Leone's Precious Minerals Trading Act and related mineral-trading regulations.
Diamond Export Compliance
Every diamond parcel TerraVault exports is certified under the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS), the international system that verifies rough diamonds are conflict-free and legally sourced before they can cross a border. Parcels are professionally graded, matched against the seller’s declared inventory, and cleared through Sierra Leone’s Government Gold and Diamond Office (GGDO) and the Ministry of Mines and Mineral Resources. Each shipment travels under a valid Kimberley Process certificate, sealed in tamper-evident packaging, with documentation that satisfies the World Diamond Council’s System of Warranties for the onward buyer, cutting house or exchange.
Kimberley Process Certification Scheme
Every rough diamond parcel is certified under the KPCS, the internationally mandated system confirming diamonds are conflict-free before they can be legally exported or imported.
GGDO Clearance
Parcels are cleared through Sierra Leone's Government Gold and Diamond Office and the Ministry of Mines and Mineral Resources, the two authorities responsible for verifying and licensing every diamond export.
World Diamond Council System of Warranties
Shipping documentation carries the System of Warranties statement required by cutting houses, exchanges and buyers as confirmation of conflict-free, KPCS-compliant origin.
Chain-of-Custody Documentation
A complete, auditable record — grading, certification, government clearance, sealing and transport — accompanies every parcel from receipt through to final international delivery.
Compliance requirements and licensing procedures can change, and specific documentation needs vary by consignment, destination market and counterparty. This page is a summary of the frameworks we work to — for a specific shipment, contact our compliance team for the current licence numbers, certificates and supporting paperwork that apply to your export or storage arrangement.
